different types of window tint film
- First - Dyed window tint film is the most common type of window tint film used in window tints we see on the road. This is made with a dye that is placed next to an adhesive on the film making it a darker shade from the outside it however allows more UV rays into the car making it slightly lower quality in protection from the sunlight. It also is less effective in increasing the car temperature since the dye absorbs the solar heat from the sunlight. Although this is advantageous initially, over time the dye can fade quickly and over time becomes less effective. However inexpensive to replace and some places will give you a lifetime warranty which can be beneficial if you ever need to get your window's tinting again if the film is fading.
- Second - Metallized film, it is a lot like dyed film however small particles of metal are placed in the interior of the dye giving the tint a metallic look, very difficult to see, however it's enought to where the film becomes more metalic. This also makes the film more shatter resistant. It also gives a slight shinier tint to the the window film. One downside to this film that has been discovered as more and more cars are using them, the metalic particles inside the dye causes cell phone service to block the transmission and can even have no service with the metalic film used.
- Third - Carbon window tint has better results than the first and second. It has better results in both IV and UV ray protection. It protects up to 40% of infrared light, which gives a much better cooling aid than does dye or metallic. It also has no metal in carbon which allows for better transmission of cell service. Upholstery also has a longer lifespan. You are also able to save gas even with carbon since the cooling within the car will lower the temperatures due to the cooling aid of carbon. Blasting your air conditioner wastes gas and reducing this along can save some money monthly. It also has a longer shelf life than does dye being more durable.
- Fourth - Because Ceramic Window film is the highest quality, it is also the most expensive. It uses less shade for a higher result in apholstry protection and heat absorbtion so it allows less heat in. It has no dye, metal or carbon but is completely ceramic which has no metal blocking cell service and non conductive. It has just shown up on the market and has proven to be more reliable from it's materials used. It blocks anywhere from 45% to 50% of the solar heat that comes to the window from infared light. Along with cell usage with no interuptions there is also powerful protection from shattering glass, being extremely shatter proof. When it comes to UV protection Ceramic protects clost to 99% of all UV rays which are the most destructive in nearly all brands and makes and has high durability resistant to upholstry protection.
What type of film do i use?
- Ceramic window tint film comes with a 70% blockage of the UV sun rays in most window tints. Companies like 3M and SunTek boast proudly their UV protection. In a recent study it was found that Suntek's Nano Ceramic film had IR Rejection rays, close to 63% where as, the Motoshield Pro Nano Ceramic was closer to 68% Both UV rejection almost exactly 100%.
